Paul will play the UK and Dublin in August/September 2024 as part of Tricky MC, his side project with Dick Jr.& The Volunteers' guitarist and "Fistfights and Hugouts" producer, Billy Moran.
As someone who's been seeing you at UK shows and at Rockwood over the years, it feels as though you've always been a part of the SPN Family. For those who aren't as familiar, how did that come about?
I first met Jason when I opened for him and Rob on one of their Germany tours, but I actually knew Jason’s brother Matt before that, when I used to play with Steve Carlson on his U.K. tours and that’s where it all began, many years ago. It’s Steve’s fault! Haha.
And now, of course, you're an honorary Volunteer..
Doing the backing vocals on "Kerry Anne" came about during the PBJr tour where we were harmonising on a couple of tracks. We were walking through Savannah, Rich, Billy and I were talking and Rich asked me to do the bass vocals on the track, which I was excited to do. The actual recording of the vocals was very straight forward, Billy sent me the stems* and I recorded them at home, after a few minutes I sent them back to Billy and that was that. Very straightforward, lol.
* STeM is an acronym for “Stereo Masters”. Essentially, it's an audio file that breaks down the song into tracks for melody, instruments, bass and drums.
