Billy Moran

FANWORLD:
"What music are you currently grooving to?"
Billy: Right now..I think I've had the latest Phoebe Bridgers album ‘Punisher’ on repeat since it came out. It’s really super moody and her voice just kind of chills me out a lot, so I've really been digging that a lot. Check that out if you haven't checked it out yet.

Fanworld: What, if push comes to shove, is your all-time favorite album?
Billy: That would easily be ‘Appetite for Destruction’.

ALL BACK TO MY PLACE

FANWORLD: What was the first record you ever bought? And where did you buy it?
Billy:  Well the 1st record I ever owned was Iron Maiden ‘Number of The Beast’ and I think it was paired with Quiet Riot – ‘Metal Health’, I think that was called. I think that was given to me as a gift, so technically, I didn’t buy that.

I think the next one, that I bought, with my own money, is probably the ‘Use Your Illusion’ Guns N’ Roses album on compact disc. I remember, it was at the store called ‘The Compact Disc Store’. Really generic. They would release it at midnight the day before so that people could get the CD in their hands. I remember being super young  and going out and being “This is really exciting, I get to hear it before anybody else”, so that was definitely a pretty cool memory.

Fanworld: What do you sing in the shower?
Billy:

Whatever’s on really.

Let’s see, you know, I always love singing ‘Silent Lucidity’ by Queensryche. That’s an old classic of mine I love singing in the shower.

Fanworld: Which musician, other than yourself, have you ever wanted to be?

Billy: Ok, who did I ever want to be? I don’t know if I ever wanted to *be* anybody else, more than just, heavily inspired by. Definitely Slash. I mean, I certainly wouldn’t want to *be* Slash, because I would not want to have to go through the heroin addiction and all that, you know? But certainly, I’ve wanted to pull from his playing as much as I possibly could, cos he’s just been a huge inspiration of mine.

But I don’t know if I would want to be any of those other artists, cos I’m just happy in the shoes that I’m in, right? I’m happy with the life that I’ve built. Otherwise I’d have to pull myself, extract myself from this life and go live that other musician’s life. And I gotta tell you, that some of those musician’s lives aren’t too exciting or appealing to me. Obviously the drug addictions, that’s one, and the pressure.

But certainly, I would pull my inspiration from Slash, Clapton, another one whose life I probably wouldn’t want to live…let’s see, Hendrix, another one, phenomenal, Stevie Ray Vaughan, phenomenal, but they’ve all had their different lives.
What's your favorite Saturday night record?
Billy: I would say Saturday Night Record is probably Bahama’s Barchords. It’s an easy one to listen to. You can always put it on and forget everything. It’s a great, tonally complex album but it’s very accessible at the same time.
It’s a beautiful album.
Fanworld: And your Sunday morning record?
Billy:  I think I’m gonna go *way* the opposite direction because I have a house full of girls. So whatever’s on Top Pop at the moment is pretty much what we’re listening to in the morning. Dua Lipa, you name it…it’s Post Malone..
Jonas Brothers now are *huge* in this house. We’ve kind of been watching them on repeat.
